Located in Phoenix, Arizona, the Heart Rhythm Academy was the West Coast’s first vocational institution specializing in cardiac device training. Founded in 2015,  our unique educational program has produced qualified, industry-ready device specialists that are thriving in the field of cardiac rhythm management. Thomas Mattioni M.D.

Dr. Mattioni has been practicing clinical cardiac electrophysiology in Arizona for almost 25 years and is regarded as a leading authority and innovator in the research and practice of electrophysiology. Dr. Mattioni has been a key contributor in a variety of research protocols that have produced some of today’s most promising arrhythmias devices and medications. Dr. Mattioni is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and electrophysiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Heart Rhythm Society, and is the Director of Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia services at Scottsdale Healthcare.

Antonio Fernandez

Antonio Fernandez is responsible for the curriculum development and training operations of both IronRod Health and Heart Rhythm Academy. In this role, he oversees the training of hospital and clinic staff on how to monitor cardiac devices through a combination academic study and field training. Prior to IronRod Health, Antonio was a Territory Manager at vascular intervention device maker Spectranetics Corporation.

Antonio is certified with the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE). In addition, he holds a BA degree in Political Science from the University of Arizona, and an MBA from ESADE International Business School in Barcelona, Spain.
